Instructions

Please take a minute to read through the instructions below and choose your card set and player names.
  • Top Trumps is a 1 or 2 player game consisting of a number of cards, each containing five items of information relating to the subject of the card, for example with a set of cards relating to performance cars you might have top speed, acceleration, power etc.

  • First of all you need to choose whether you want to play against the computer or against a friend. Enter your player names where prompted below, or to play the computer enter just the name of Player 1. Choose to play the game with two players or against the computer using the options provided.

  • Play begins with each player being dealt an equal share of the available cards. The current player will see their card face up, and their opponents card face down. The current players name is also highlighted.

  • The current player must then choose an item of information that they think will beat their opponent, for example using the set of performance car related cards, if the current player has a top speed of 250mph, it is unlikely that the opponents card will have a faster top speed. If so then that hand is won. It is not always the higher figure that wins however, for if you consider the cars again, if one car is lighter than another then it wins.

  • The winner of each hand gets to keep their winning card but also get to keep their opponents losing card. The winner continues to play further hands until a hand is lost, at which point control of the game is passed to opponent. If a hand is drawn both cards remain in the hands of their owners and are drawn again later on.

  • The winner of each hand is indicated and the number of cards in each players possession is also shown. The game goes on until a player has won all of their opponents cards.
